Satin sheets, bedding & lingerie - living your dreams in elegant luxury!

Find the different varieties of Luxury Silk and Satin Bedding:

There are so many descriptions used for satin:

"...Sensual...",
     "...Elegant...",
        "...Sheer and shiny delight...",

True indeed  -  and did you know that "satin" is really a name for a particular kind of weave but has now come to mean any shiny, smooth surfaced material, and even the finished surface of gadgets and paint.  Whatever it is used to describe, there is this distinct suggestion that there is high quality and luxury embedded.  So satin is more a description of a look and feel of a cloth, that a certain style of weaving creates.

Satin bedding can be made from a variety of different fabrics, normally silk, rayon, or polymer-based fabrics such as polyester or acetate, and nylon.  Manufacturers and merchants generally only sell one or two different types of satin material and extol their virtues over other fabrics. So we need to make sure we know what type of satin sheeting fabric we're looking for and what we can expect to get.  And remember to check each manufacturers washing instructions as their material descriptions may differ and overlap with others.  I suggest the Charmeuse Satin as a suitable choice for most people, but there are good reasons for choosing any of these:

A silk satin sheet
gives the ultimate sensation of luxuriant living and soothing sleep in elegantly iridescent splendor  -  right!?  -  Yes, it's quite likely you heard or read all these descriptions before, but for this type of silk and silk bedding, it really isn't far from the truth in anyone's eyes (or skin for that matter).  We are talking about a pure silk fabric with a satin weave.  Generally satin fabrics do have that feel of being comfortably warm in winter and soothingly cool in summer, and this is particularly so with silk satin.  It is a natural fiber, is thin, and is also hypo allergic. So this silky satin bedding can be delicate and needs care in washing and maintaining. It is a definitely up-market satin and the satin sheets of choice for many a Hollywood star.

Polyester satin bedding
is shinier, stronger and more durable than silk satin yet still has most of its finest qualities especially those super satiny sensations.  It is still a lightweight, flowing material, resistant to creasing, shrinking and moths.  It is easier to wash  -  a very practical choice.  Bridal satin is sometimes made of polyester.

Acetate-based satin fabrics
have a very shiny lustre and feel.  They are thicker and heavier than silk and polyester satins, and their shiny side has a particularly luxurious quality.  They usually have a center seam as has most nylon satin bedding, though modern manufacturing techniques keep this quite unobtrusive.  They are more delicate and sensitive to heat (and alcohol!) so they will need more care to keep them in good condition.

Nylon satin bed linen
is thicker and the stronger than most other satins.  It is lustrous and elastic whilst still retaining its shape.  It is resistant to chemicals, rough treatment, mildew and moths. It can readily be machine washed and the most durable, just pipping polyester at the post for this  -  but it does get damaged by sunlight.  It is also the first choice for bridal satin.

Charmeuse Satin
is the one I recommend.  This finely-woven seamless sheeting is perfect for the bedroom with its luxurious looks and exquisitely beautiful draping.  It offers the smoothest and silkiest feel for all general purpose living and sleeping.  Referred to as a silk, this more recent polyester fabric has all the fine qualities of elegantly flowing lightness and durability.  Since its arrival, it has had pride of place in the silk and satin sheets, satin lingerie and "opulent cloth" markets allowing you to experience your bed and resting space as sheer sensual pleasure with this exquisite satin bedding.  What a wonderful gift to yourself and those close to you!

Not Just Pink or Blue Anymore
Gone are the days when the primary decorating decision in the nursery was pink or blue. Today’s baby’s room demands functional design that’s easy to keep clean, looks like it costs a fortune (even though it didn’t) and, for many moms, soft natural beauty. There are lots of trendy looks for baby nurseries, but the timeless classic look of natural wood and fibers, coupled with the soft elegance of lamplight, some shiny satin sheets, a  silk flower arrangement and other well-designed, chic accessories lends a comfortable and comforting air to the nursery.
