Sateen Duvet Covers are made from 100% cotton with a satinised sheen which has a very soft feel that only the finest quality pure cotton can give.   It gets its name because of its resemblance to satin having the same definitive sheen on the face and with a dull back.   This fabric is woven using either 1 or 2 ply yarns and the quality of sateen is measured by the thread count ranging from 250 threads per square inch to up to 1000 threads per square inch;  this higher count ensuring a luxuriously superior performance.   The cover, which can be removed and is washable, protects the duvet or comforter.

The advantages of Sateen as a fabric

Sateen has many of the benefits of satin.   For instance, there is little friction when moving in the bed.   It also has that satiny glossy look and its softness.   Being cotton, it is easily machine washable, tumble dryable and long lasting.   Normally duvet covers are slipped over the duvet or comforter and fastened by poppers, buttons, velcro or a zip.   The covers can be matched with sateen sheets, bed skirts and pillow cases.   Again, by changing the color of the linen, your bedroom will have a completely different look at very little expense.

Colors and styles

Sateen accepts the same stunning colored dyes that you can see when looking at satin products.   Interestingly though, there are also many subtle, rather more unusual chic colors such as birch, bamboo and cornsilk.   You can really indulge yourself in its softness and these spectacular and subtle shades.   Then there’s a danger that you’ll never want to sleep in any other fabric again!   Another useful facet is how the cloth breathes, it is cool in summer and warm in winter.   A sateen duvet cover is certainly not the sort of bedding you would regret getting.
