Satin Comforters Chinese  -  living and sleeping

Getting to know the different varieties of Oriental comforters:

Satin Comforters Chinese simply describes a satin comforter that may have been manufactured in China, or to have been made in the Chinese style.   Satin was originally produced in China hundreds of years ago  –  a skill discovered by expert weavers.   The material was exported from China via a seaport called Zaytun and it is from this port that satin got its name.   Manufacturers today still import satin from China, but many of the modern comforters are made all over the world from synthetic fibers such as 100% woven polyester and are the finest, smoothest and most elegant satin bedding available.   This particular satin is called Charmeuse silk satin.

What is a comforter?
Simply, a comforter covers the entire bed and is quilted and often reversible.   Traditionally it drops between 15” – 21” (38cm – 54cm) over the sides of the bed and also at the foot of the bed. Mostly they are filled with a synthetic bonded polyester fill.   But the filling could also be South American Alpaca fleece which is a hollow fiber, absorbing and releasing moisture from the air so that the filling stays warm, dry and comfortable.   Sometimes down is used as filling and this would be covered by 100% cotton to prevent the feathers from leaking through and this material also can increase the life of the comforter.   It would then be covered in satin and quilted in many chic and elegant designs so that the warmth is distributed uniformly by the pockets of filling.

Change the colour: change the look
If it is a Chinese style comforter that you are looking for, you will be impressed by the variety of gloriously colored satin bedlinen that is available.   And the ‘look’ of your bedroom can be changed simply by having your satin bed linen in different colors  –  beautiful summer-colored dyes  –  Rose, Deep Blue for example  -  and then Deep Golds and Burgundys in the winter.   Comforters are also to be found with patterns woven into the satin and some have been appliquéd with ribbons, velvet or lace.   You can check out some lovely examples of these Chinese satin comforters from the manufacturers on this site.
