Getting to know the different varieties of Satin Quilts and Comforters

There are really only a few small differences between Satin Quilts and Comforters.   Both are described as being manufactured from a large soft flat bag filled with feathers or artificial material.   So many different fabric coverings can be used, but satin is at the luxurious and sumptuous end of the market.   The look of satin in the bedroom is lavish and sensual enhanced by the beautiful colored dyes that are used in the production of satin bedlinen.   Just by having quilts or comforters in different colors can completely change the image or mood of your bedrooms.

Quilt or Comforter: How they’re made
Traditionally an American quilt is a decorative cover for a bed made from a patchwork of different patterns, colors and shapes.   This can be reproduced in satin giving a gloriously opulent feel.   A Satin comforter consists of two pieces of fabric large enough to cover the bed, stitched together and filled with a warm soft material that is either natural or synthetic.   The comforter is usually quilted by stitching in many different attractive and chic designs and they can be reversible.   There is a vast choice of quilts and comforters and you may find just what you’re looking for on one of the excellent suppliers shown on this page.

Many different fillings from which to choose
Manufacturers use a whole range of fillings for quilts, duvets and comforters.   There is the South American Alpaca fleece with its hollow fiber which is particularly comfortable as the fibers absorb and release moisture from the air to that the filling stays warm and dry.   Down is frequently used with a 100% cotton covering to prevent the down leaking through and will also increase the life of the quilt/comforter.   Synthetic filling is also used enabling easier laundering. In fact satin bedlinen is usually washable with a cool cycle and care.   An option to the stitched quilt or comforter is to purchase a satin comforter cover which can be easily removed and laundered.
