Waterbed sheet - for you and your water bed

The different varieties of waterbed linens and which is best for you

Most owners of waterbeds are familiar with the different types of waterbeds, the soft-sided bed or divan and the 'hardside' waterbed.   Standard bedding fits your soft-sided beds with ease.   Now for the 'hardside' waterbed though, bed linen manufacturers have come up with sewing a triangular flap onto the sheet corners. This safely holds the bottom sheet in place at each corner and stops the sheet from moving.   Many producers also use the combination of a flat upper and a fitted lower waterbed sheet as a set   The sheets are sewn together across a part of the bottom end.   Another way they use is by sewing down one side.   This again keeps the job of making the bed easier too.   These sorts of waterbed sheets are generally made-to-order so you can also choose either right or left opening.

The many choices of bed linens
The many types of fabrics used for bedding are satin, flannel, polyester, sateen, cotton, percale and more besides  -  silk and so on.   Flannel has its cozy, snug qualities whilst cotton has a cooler feel and is more absorbent. The others have a sheen of varying intensities.   The ‘thread count’ is good to know about   –  200 threads per square inch is about right  - 180 is also acceptable though.   If you choose much higher, the price will be increasing faster than quality.   If you want to consider satin sheets and bedding:  polyester or nylon satins are durable and comfortable.   I normally recommend the Charmeuse satin.   It has a smooth, slightly sensual feel with a great sheen and drapes very well.   It's also durable and easy to look after  -  washing, drying and all.   It's worth choosing a woven satin bedding, which is going to be touching skin.   Knitted satin has a rougher texture and is better for bedspreads or comforters.

'Off the shelf’ or 'made-to-measure’ - it's your choice
You can get both ‘off the shelf’ which is cheaper than ‘made-to-measure’. Of course, customizing gives you what you want, should you so wish or require something different or special.   For the soft-sided waterbed, ready made products is all you really need.   If you want a real nice fit  -  perhaps for your customized waterbed  -  you'll be getting made to measure anyway.   It's worth having a look at Flex-Fit sheets with their patented corners.   They stretch in all directions:  up, down and around, so fitting all mattresses.   They range from standard thickness to premium thickness which is about 9” (22cm).   For any other bedding  -  duvets, duvet covers, comforters, pillowcases, bedspreads etc.  –  you should try selecting sites with conventional bedding, or a water bed sheet supplier.
